Specially selected students from across the country, many with hearing loss, spent a week backpacking and kayaking through the Grand Canyon, researching the unique sounds of nature. Through their research, the students learned about some of the issues caused by noise pollution from helicopter tours and other man-made distractions.
This experience helped the students understand the importance of sounds in our lives. Students also learned how to promote awareness of hearing loss, noise pollution, and the importance of sounds within their communities.
